SHORT #1: BLACK VAULT
What Skill Did I Focus On?
Directing/ Writing
WHAT I LEARNED?
I can write. I just gotta do it more. As a director I began to build a system of organizing my time, shots, and how to communicate with my actors.
WHAT I WOULD CHANGE?
Matching the tone of the script to the visual images.
WHAT INSPIRED THIS?
I entered a Competition for N'Espresso with the challenge to film vertically on whatever device you have answering the prompt: "The difference she makes".
Short #2: Well... a short series called COMMUNE
What Skill Did I Focus On?
Executive & Line Producer
WHAT I LEARNED?
How to allot money! How to treat my crew. SAG Paperwork. Delegation. Organization. Keeping crew and cast happy.
WHAT I WOULD CHANGE?
Have interviews with each key department head. Allot more funds for my gaffer. Discuss with my director how much of the process for pre and post I need them for.
WHAT INSPIRED THIS?
I created a character that fit me that I could share with the world. I collaborated with artists I respected to build a story. We realized the story was in front of us. One house where people want to create their own community.
Short #3: Roadside Assistance
(Contact for viewing permission)
Based on true events...
A Black woman and a cop engage in dialogue about the current social issues among POC and the Police Force. Their painful pasts help them to connect and guide them towards something we are not seeing in America right now. Empathy.
